Lucca, with its tree-lined ramparts, medieval charm, and year-round cultural calendar, is one of Italy’s best-kept secrets. Summer draws global music legends to the Lucca Summer Festival, transforming piazzas into intimate open-air stages, while autumn welcomes the colorful crowds of Lucca Comics & Games, Europe’s largest comic and gaming convention. But beyond the fanfare, the city maintains a mellow rhythm, perfect for slow mornings and spontaneous discoveries.

The house takes its name from this luminous quality (“Montechiaro” loosely translating to “clear mountain”) and from a former resident whose spirit still lingers in the home’s story.
Recently renovated by its architect-owners in 2025, the residence is a study in timeless restraint. Original chestnut beams have been sandblasted and preserved; natural Tuscan stone grounds the interiors in earthy texture, from the floors to the sculptural bathrooms.
